Arts & Humanities Fellows Program - Application

The annual selection of new fellows recognizes extraordinary scholarship and creativity among Texas A&M faculty members who are engaged in the humanities or the creative arts.

The Arts & Humanities Fellowship invites research applications from scholars in all disciplines of the humanities and creative arts pursuing projects that embody exceptional research. A primary goal of the program is to support significant advancement or completion of a major piece of scholarly or creative work by the applicant and increase external fellowship application success. Projects may be at any stage of development. Applications must clearly articulate a project’s value to humanities scholars and general audiences.

The 2024 competition includes two opportunities. One is the standard fellowship that has supported 63 faculty projects since 2015. The other is a new option, Emerging Technologies: Perspectives from the Arts and Humanities. For each, completed applications must be submitted through InfoReady no later than 9 p.m. Central Daylight Time, April 20, 2024. Notification of awards will be sent via email in June 2024.

Standard Fellowship

Emerging Technologies: Perspectives from the Arts & Humanities (New)

Funding for the new program* supports artistic and humanistic research that “explores the relationships between technology and society, and the impacts technology has on culture, health, social interactions, government, cultural institutions, the environment, and other aspects of life.” The fellowship does not support faculty teaching activities, such as the preparation or revision of textbooks or curriculum development.

We invite projects that link research and scholarly works to compelling social issues where technology plays a key role. Projects that seek to understand and address the ethical, legal and societal implications of artificial intelligence (AI) are particularly encouraged.
